Brosh Architects Studio

Brosh Architects required an additional office space for expansion of the office.
After a long search to find rental space in central London, Its owner, Lior Brosh, decided to take the cost of monthly office rental along with the time and money spent on commuting to build the Brosh Architects studio at the far end of the Garden.
The shape of the space was born from the odd shape of the rear garden and internal spaces were designed to fit a working office and guest room with ensuite for guests and family to come to visit as well as space for garden storage.
At the outset, the full-length cantilever roof was not as part of the original design, however; when Lior visited up-state New York, USA and saw the local residential homes with warm and inviting covered front porches with hanging benches, he wanted to incorporate this into the design.
The structure was built with blockwork walls and timber structure roof with black colour fibre-cement cladding.
The internal space was made from two materials only: concrete floor and birch plywood walls & ceilings so that it can be aesthetically minimal as a working environment whilst still feeling warm and cosy on dark winter days.

The renovation and rear extension to a lower ground floor of a 4 storey Victorian Terraced house in Hampstead Conservation Area.

The client contacted us to renovate the lower ground floor of the house due to severe damp issues and recent flooding that poured into the house from the rear garden.  
The client had a dark, low ceiling, 1970’s rear extension that was unhabitable due to its current damp conditions and used as a storage without proper access to the rear garden. 
The kitchen had patio doors facing an immediate staircase leading into the upper garden which created a dark space facing onto the kitchen. 
The solution was to push the staircase further into the garden creating a large lower patio space to channel natural light into the internal spaces. We demolished the existing and dilapidated 1970’s extension and rebuilt a new extension (complete with waterproof system) within the same footprint which is used as a breakfast room that can be fully opened into the new lower patio.

Our vision - Restore the old period charm and adapt to modern living. 

Nearly all original features were removed so the original style was lost due to previous renovations. 

Herringbone oak timber flooring was specified as it would’ve been the original flooring. We distressed/damaged the floor and used ‘old English’ stain to give a 200 years old look. 

We removed the 1980’s radiators and installed underfloor heating.

Staircases on the lower and upper level had nearly collapsed. We fully renovated the staircases so not lose another piece of Georgian history.   

We reverted to the original floor layout with tweaks for modern living. 
-	3 full-height sliding doors give flexibility for an open plan feeling or a private closed space.
-	Kitchen was re-located to rear, the dining and living area now work together harmoniously. 
-	Modern media is housed within bespoke joinery.
-	A new full width front balcony was opened up for enjoyment of Westbourne Garden Park & its magnificent trees.
-	Strategically placed concealed strip lights create a subtle yet adequate light complementing the Georgian feel of the flat.
-	A study was created at the rear with a brand new dormer to flood the study with natural light that flows through the landing to the front master bedroom.

Light coloured Farrow and Ball paint has a traditional tint yet still gives a modern look. 

Our bespoke joinery was completed with a white finish in order to bounce the light throughout the room. 


XXS // Portico

The brief was to design a portico side Extension for an existing home to add more storage space for shoes, coats and above all, create a warm welcoming entrance to their home.
Materials - Brick (to match existing) and birch plywood.
